Indiana security deposit law

45 days to return the deposit; cap no statutory cap.

The deposit and an itemized statement of deductions are due within 45 days of move-out. There is no statutory cap on the deposit amount.

What this means for you: If the landlord fails to itemize within 45 days, they forfeit the right to keep any of it and may owe your attorney's fees.

Your next step: Provide a forwarding address in writing; send a demand if 45 days pass.
